Tutkimus: “Seeing Through Their Eyes”: Personalized Vision Rehabilitation & Eye Disease Management -A Holistic Approach with Adjustable Extended Reality (XR)
Väitöskirja-apuraha 3v
Our research project addresses a pressing clinical need by harnessing customizable Eye-tracking & Virtual Reality/Extended Reality (VR/XR) simulations in ophthalmology and vision rehabilitation. Our goal is to enhance patient-centered eye care, break down referral barriers, and foster mutual understanding between individuals with visual impairments (PVI), eye patients, their healthcare professionals, caregivers, and decision-makers at both individual and community levels. We also aim to aid in democratizing eye care services, particularly through remote assessments.
The project rigorously evaluates the implementation and effectiveness of customizable eye-tracked VR/XR simulation approaches in understanding and managing vision impairment and eye diseases. Through this innovative approach, our research results encompass a broad spectrum of applications to improve eye patient adherence to treatment and enhance the quality of life for people with vision impairments. Ultimately, this research project has the potential to change the clinic dynamic, reshape ophthalmology practices, and redefine vision rehabilitation strategies for the better.
